With over 4 miles of white sand beaches and a 3 mile nature trail it is easy to see why Honeymoon Island is a favorite get away place for local residents. The nature trail goes through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forests and is home to plenty of wildlife including eagles, osprey and great horned owls, while animals like gopher tortoises, raccoons and armadillos can also be seen. Swimming, fishing, shelling, hiking and bicycling are all activities available here. You can regularly catch spotted sea trout, mackerel, snook and many other species of fish. This place is also home to some beautiful sunsets, next time we are here we hope to capture some for you. The park is also the ferry terminal for access to another state park, Caladesi Island.
